As each one has received a gift, minister it to one another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.
Today, our church did our first street clean up for the street we adopted last year. It has been several months since we were able to do this. It felt good to get out as a group and walk down the street and pick up all the debris from the winter and make the street look nice again. We love serving our community.
Serving others is what God has entrusted us to do. We are to serve others in self-sacrificing ways. There are so many ways to do this. It could be by taking part in a volunteer opportunity such as cleaning a street. It could be volunteering to serve a meal at a homeless shelter. It could be just donating to a food drive.
It could also be as simple as lending an ear to a friend who is going through tough times. It could be giving someone a ride, giving someone a bottle of water, helping a family member or roommate with a chore, or even just picking up a piece of paper on the side of the street and putting it in a near by trash can. Simple acts of kindness.
Each act of kindness that is done is seen by others without even saying a word. Others see, then others may do. Spreading kindness, helping others, serving our community, are all ways we show our love for others as well as showing our love for God. We are all responsible for caring for our world and other people.
Think about a way you can be of service to another person, or your community, then do it. You will receive a blessing and you will also be showing others how they can be a blessing as well! Praise God for all his loving kindness and the blessings he gives each and every one of us. God is so, so good! Let’s take care of what he has given all of us!
