God is in the midst of her, she shall not be moved;
God shall help her, just at the break of dawn.
The Lord is good, a refuge in times of trouble. He cares for those who trust in Him,

This past Friday, a group of wonderful ladies from my church traveled together to another city to attend our local conference’s Women’s Retreat. The event was entitled "Hope in the Trenches" with main speaker Candis Braxton. Every year I plan and try to encourage ladies to go with me. I started doing this several years ago and it is one of my favorite things to do. I look forward to this weekend all year. I plan goody bags to give to all the ladies, and sometimes other surprises as well! This year we had a fun group and planned some fun things to do as a group. Everyone had so much fun and was truly blessed by the messages shared.
The main theme was “Hope in the Trenches”, and the main speaker was absolutely wonderful with a beautiful singing voice. There were many wonderful messages, discussions, laughter, and tears. This is how it usually goes. An emotional roller coaster where you experience so many emotions depending on what is currently being done or shared.
This year our group planned so many different things to enhance the whole retreat and, in a way, make our presence known. Our Women’s Ministry department planned shirts, bright pink, with the above Bible verse chosen as it seemed to go well with the theme of the event. On the back we put the event name and year. We planned when we would wear them. We even gave one to the retiring Women’s Ministry Director for our conference. She has been such a shining light for us all. It was quite a sight as we showed up for the afternoon sessions wearing our shirts! Some called us the Pink Ladies!
Right after supper we went back upstairs to change into our next chosen outfits, PJ’s! Each pair of roommates had chosen matching PJ’s so down we went for the evening session wearing our PJ’s and matching slippers on our feet! Fuzzy pink slippers! The emcee even said “did you see these ladies wearing matching PJ’s? I want to be with them!”. What a fun time and great way to bond as women.
If you ever have a chance to attend a Women’s Retreat weekend do! The wonderful nuggets of God’s truth to us as women help to encourage and strengthen us. The fellowship and time spent bonding and talking with other women, meeting new women, and sharing testimonies is something that cannot be matched. You will return home with an energized spirit and your heart full of God’s love and grace.

June 28th the ladies gathered at church to watch a movie in one of the Sabbath School rooms called "Mom's Night Out". We had pizza before the movie and popcorn during the movie along with tons of laughs! After the movie we shared how we relate as moms to the characters in the movie and read a short devotion to welcome Sabbath, prayed and headed home. It was a blessed evening!
Sunday July 14th, we met at church with sack meals and water and drove down together to Waubonsie Start Park to walk, sit and talk, share, have a meal, and just spend some time in God's beautiful nature. it was hot so most of the time we were blessed to sit in the comfort of our sister Gerita's home. We did enjoy the park a bit and enjoyed so much conversation!
More events are coming up! Stay tuned!
