“What man of you, having a hundred sheep, if he loses one of them, does not leave the ninety-nine in the wilderness, and go after the one which is lost until he finds it? And when he has found it, he lays it on his shoulders, rejoicing. And when he comes home, he calls together his friends and neighbors, saying to them, ‘Rejoice with me, for I have found my sheep which was lost!’ I say to you that likewise there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine just persons who need no repentance.
Do you feel like you are so far lost, God doesn’t want you anymore? Do you feel like you have done too much to find your way home? Don’t worry. We are all lost. The lost can be found. Jesus goes out of His way to find the lost. He wants to bring all of us home.
As humans, we are easily distracted. Things of this world call out to us and draw us in. The things of this world seem so enjoyable, easy, and fun. There are so many ways they appeal to us. We think it’s just something small. Not a big deal. Before we know it, we are lost. We are off somewhere and don’t know how we got there. We don’t know how to get back home.
Even though the 99 are still at home, safe, Jesus wants that one that wandered off. You see, God does not want to lose even one. That one He must search for in order to bring it home. This is why Jesus spent time with sinners, with the lowest of low. He wanted to bring them home to His heavenly Father. Jesus searches for your heart, how to reach you. He doesn’t give up; He keeps on trying to bring you home.
If you feel you are too lost, don’t fret. Get down on your knees, pray, this is how Jesus brings you back home. Open your heart, submit to His will. Let God lift your burdens. He has a beautiful, peaceful, loving home waiting for you. All the heavens will rejoice when the lost are found. Not one should be lost.
for the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost.”
