The Carpenter's Son

When He had come to His own country, He taught them in their synagogue, so that they were astonished and said, “Where did this Man get this wisdom and these mighty works? Is this not the carpenter’s son? Is not His mother called Mary? And His brothers James, Joses, Simon, and Judas?

Matthew 13:54-55 NKJV

The Carpenter's Son

Midweek Thoughts

Have you ever really thought about Joseph being a carpenter?  Have you thought about Jesus also being a carpenter?  I have meditated on this thought.  Nothing in God’s word is trivial.  Every word in the Bible has a purpose, a meaning.  What do you think about Jesus being a carpenter?

I don’t think it was by chance that Joseph was a carpenter.  As I said, nothing in the Bible is by chance.  God has a design to everything.  God’s plan for Jesus to be our redeemer was from the beginning, long before Jesus was born on this earth.  God’s plan was also for Jesus to be a carpenter.  Why you ask?  I think I may know.

Carpenter’s are precise.  They must measure and be very meticulous in their design, every cut, every nail, every aspect of what they are doing.  From beginning to end, they must plan as well as be very careful while assembling all the pieces.  Carpenter’s build things, beautiful things, with their hands.  This would be the perfect profession for the Lord.  God is very precise.  God plans our every detail.  God builds things.  God builds us.  Every detail of our lives He lays out.  He has given us the Bible as our instruction book for how we are to live our lives.

Jesus said in John 14:2-3 “In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.”  This is beautiful!  God is building a place for us in Heaven.  A place we can not even fully imagine how wonderful it will be.  Jesus, the carpenter’s son.  It makes sense Jesus would be a carpenter’s son and thus a carpenter.  He likes to build and is building for us.  I don’t know about you, but I can’t wait to go with Jesus when He returns and be taken up to the place He has build for me!  Praise God for His love of carpentry!
