Slow to Anger

He who is slow to anger is better than the mighty, and he who rules his spirit than he who takes a city.

Proverbs 16:32 NKJV

Slow to Anger

Midweek thoughts from the Bible

Have you been paying attention to the news lately?  Have you seen how people seem to be so quick to get angry and just blow up over the smallest and pettiest things?  Are you afraid to even go anywhere these days as you don’t want to encounter anger and hatred?  It’s true.  You hear it every day.  People are so quick to yell and scream.  People are angry everywhere you go.  Even children are getting into arguments and shooting guns, ruining their futures.  It’s everywhere.  The world has gone crazy and we all want it to stop.  What do you do?

The above Bible verse says so much and really speaks of how we all should be instead of how so many are.  These days it seems people get angry so quickly and just blow up at anyone and everyone.  Sometimes it even leads to violence.  If we would heed God’s word and instruction, we would all be in a better place.  We need to be slow to anger.  Take time to think before we speak.  Take time to think about how other people might react or take what we have to say.  Taking our time to think things through, and to think about other people, can make a huge difference in the outcome of a situation.  It is far better to go slow than to show your might.

If we all took the time to control ourselves and how we respond to things, we could better communicate with others and work through whatever the situation is.  Being calm and working through a problem or situation carefully and thoughtfully shows more strength and courage than just trying to be right and turning to violence.  Be calm and pray.  Talk to God.  God can help you work through any situation.  It is far better than being a conqueror.  Take it to God.  Let God help you through.  Remain calm.  The world would be a happier place and it goes a long way to the eternal life God is promising us all.
