Seeking Truth

However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come.

John 16:13 NKJV

Seeking Truth

Midweek thoughts

Daily Bible verses are so nice.  Sometimes they speak to you at just the right moment.  The above Bible verse was todays.  It got me thinking a lot about my journey with the Lord.

I have learned so much over my life but especially the last several years as I have been studying the Bible more and more.  It is important, when you study, to pray first.  Ask God to send the Holy Spirit to give you wisdom and help you to learn the message He wants you to learn.  Sometimes they are small lights that go off.  Sometimes they are very bright lights.  The lessons are there.

Sometimes you can read the same Bible verse again and again and each time there is something else you hadn’t quite thought of before.  This is the Holy Spirit giving you enlightenment.  God wants us to learn His truth.  There are times verses are taken out of context and misused.  They are used to justify selfish desires.  You have to want to hear the truth.  Sometimes the truth makes us uncomfortable.  It should.  We are all sinners and we need to know what God’s truth is, and follow it.

Pray for the Holy Spirit to give you wisdom.  If you ask with a heart that is open to hearing the truth, even if it hurts, He will give you wisdom.  Then choose to use it in the right way.  I personally find a great deal of comfort in God’s word.  Praise God for He is great!
