Midweek thoughts about missing loved ones

Do you ever see something, like a photo of someone you love who is gone, or smell a familiar fragrance, such as cookies baking in the oven, and find yourself being taken back to another time and place?  Sometimes these simple, small things, seemingly so insignificant, can bring us to tears.  Take a deep breath, close your eyes, let the memories flow over you, and if you need to cry.

It’s okay to cry.  It’s okay to be swept away with memories and emotions.  It means the love is still there.  It’s okay to fall apart.  That is part of being human.  It’s also part of feeling.  Feelings are important.  Especially if we learn from them.  Through them we learn how to move on even when our hearts hurt.  It’s okay for our hearts to hurt from time to time, remembering those we love.  But there is something many don’t think about.  God.

God knows our pain; Jesus experienced our pain.  God also feels these same feelings.  That is why God sent Jesus.  That is why Jesus died on a cross for our sins.  We spend so much time remembering so much.  We need to remember God and His word!

God has loved us since before we were born.  Jesus paid the price for our sins before we were born.  Such an amazing love!  And God promises He will always be there for us.  God has a wonderful life with Him in store for us.  This life here on earth is short.  There are many wonderful things to enjoy while here but never forget the promise God has for us.  The promise that one day, we will be with our loved ones again and in a peaceful, beautiful world for eternity.  We will all be together praising God!  He is so wonderful.

Get to know God’s promises.  Study your Bible.  Have Faith.  Follow His word.  The future is glorious!
