Mother's Day

She opens her mouth with wisdom, and on her tongue is the law of kindness. She watches over the ways of her household,
and does not eat the bread of idleness.

Proverbs 31:26 NKJV

Mother's Day

A devotion for May 9th through the 15th

Mothers are so special.  Mother’s give so much of themselves for their children, for their families.  To be a mother is a very special gift.  You are given the gift of a small life to care for and to raise.  It is the most important job a woman can ever have.  You are responsible for the beginning of shaping another human being’s character.  Giving them a foundation in Christ is the best foundation you can give them.

God created mother’s to be loving, nurturing, caring, and capable of doing so much all the time.  Mothers want the best for their children.  Mothers work hard to give their children the best of everything.  Being a mother, you are on the go all the time.  Mothers are so many things.  A caregiver, nurse, maid, cook, driver, organizer, the list goes on and on.  One of the most important jobs a mother has is that of teacher.  Provide the instruction, all instruction, that is necessary but you should always make sure your children are grounded in Christ.  By ensuring this foundation and teaching your children about Christ, it helps your children grow into Christ-like individuals who can continue to build their characters in God’s way so they can be good, honest, caring people.

Sometimes, children will grow up and have difficulties, struggles.  They will drift away.  Mothers are always there.  Mothers are always waiting for their children to come home so they can provide a safe, loving place to turn to.  No matter what struggles or challenges you face, your mother will always be there with open arms ready to hold you close.  The same is true of our heavenly Father.  God is always there with His arms outstretched welcoming us home and ready to hold us close.

Today, and every day, remember your mother.  Remember the sacrifices she has made for you.  Even though my mother is no longer with me, I honor her by continuing to be as good a person as I can be to others.  I remember my mother being caring of others, I want to be that way as well.  By honoring your mother, God will bless you as well as your mother.  God gave us mothers as a reflection of how He is as a loving parent.  Praise God for His love and the love of your mother.  God is so great and His love goes beyond anything we can comprehend.
