You will seek Me and find Me, when you seek Me with all your heart.
Is there something that is important to you that you make sure to spend time doing? Something you schedule time to do? Such as a hobby, your car, your house, your yard? Walking around the neighborhood and looking at the yards while talking with God, these thoughts were presented to me.
Often times, we spend time tending to our yards. Mowing, watering, putting down fertilizer and weed preventer. We even throw out seed to help the grass fill in and become thick like a carpet. With our flower gardens we pick out a variety of flowers and plants with different colors, some vibrant but all pretty with their delicate petals and leaves. With vegetable gardens, we spend time picking out the right plants, preparing the soil, planting them just so, weeding the garden, watering, feeding, and otherwise tending to it as well as how we tend the flower garden and the grass. We devote time and care, nurturing the grass, flowers, and plants so they will grow well and we can delight in them.
If we don’t properly tend to our yards, the flower beds or vegetable gardens, keeping out the weeds and making sure they are watered and fed what they need, then weeds take over. Things don’t grow right. The flowers and vegetables are overtaken by the weeds. Flowers don’t bloom. Vegetables don’t grow and ripen. The lawn becomes patchy with dandelions. Sometimes there are areas where you can see things dying off and all the thick grass is gone, the flowers fade away and disappear, and you get nothing out of your vegetable garden. It has been neglected and it begins to show the neglect.
Now think of all of this compared to our relationship with God. Do you have a relationship with Him? Do you spend time nurturing your relationship with God? Do you care for it, devote time to Him? Do you throw out seeds so your relationship grows thick and brings others to Him as well? Do you feed and water your relationship? If you devote time and energy to your relationship with God it will grow. God has devoted so much to each one of us. God has done his part for the relationship. If we truly love God and want a relationship with Him, we should devote time, not just once or twice a week, to nurture the relationship. Talk with God, pray often, study His word, plant seeds with others and help them nurture their relationship with God. If you love God and accept that He sent Jesus to pay our price or our sins, you would show Him by giving Him your heart, your time, your energy to grow that relationship. God is knocking on the door of your heart. Are you willing to open the door, let Him in, and have a true relationship with Him? That’s all He wants. Our hearts.
Spend some time with God today. Sit down and have a conversation with Him. Listen and follow what He is saying. The rewards are so much better than just a well-manicured lawn.
Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with Me.
