Just Be There

The Lord also will be a refuge[a] for the oppressed, a refuge in times of trouble. And those who know Your name will put their trust in You; For You, Lord, have not forsaken those who seek You.

Psalm 9:9-10 NKJV

Just Be There

A devotional for March 14th through the 20th

While here on this earth, we go through many difficulties.  Times are sometimes hard or sad.  We all struggle with various things quite often.  I find it comforting to know God will never forsake us.

The pain we feel at times, the hard times, it will come and go.  Sometimes it feels unbearable.  We are gripped with sadness and despair.  Maybe it isn’t us who are feeling the pain or having the struggles, maybe it’s someone we are close to, someone we love.  Through these times, especially if it’s someone we care about who is dealing with a trial, sometimes the best thing we can do is just be there.

We don’t have to say anything.  We don’t even have to do anything.  Sometimes just being there, sitting next to them and just being there can be a great comfort.  Knowing there is someone right there willing to just let you put your head on their shoulder and cry or rest is all a person needs.  There is comfort in knowing there is someone by your side through it all, even if no words are said.

This is how God is.  He is always there, right by our side.  Whether we know it or not, God is right there.  He knows our pain, our struggles.  He knows our hurting heart, our fears, our sadness, our tears.  We forget that God is right there with us, waiting quietly for us to lean on Him.

Just be there for those who are hurting.  Just be there as a quiet comfort, a shoulder to lean on during those dark times.  Remember too that God is there.  God loves us more than any of us can fathom.   God wants us to know that He is right there, in the stillness, in the quietness, waiting for us to lean on Him for comfort.  God will never forsake us.  Let us not forsake Him.

Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”

Hebrews 13:5 NKJV
