He is not here, but is risen! Remember how He spoke to you when He was still in Galilee, saying, ‘The Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again.’
Do you really contemplate what Jesus did for us? I mean really spend time thinking about the events? Studying the Bible, all of it. Allowing it to interpret itself, you learn so very much. Then when you spend time really thinking about it all, it is amazing and beyond what we can truly comprehend.
Resurrection day is a wonderful day to remember. Sabbath was not changed to Sunday on this day. Sabbath, or God’s Holy day, was never changed by God or Jesus. This is a day to remember though, and to contemplate God’s great gift of Salvation.
Jesus knew, and even told others, what was going to happen to Him. He knew, and He still walked towards it. The betrayal, the torment, the pain, the rejection, and ultimately, a time period of being separated from His heavenly Father. That separation, although not long, was the worse part for Jesus. As well as all the pain going with the thought of losing even one human life to sin. Jesus went through all of this for us, each and every one of us. Even those who where not born yet, He died for us all. God’s great plan of salvation.
Jesus rested on God’s holy day, even in death following God’s commandments and obeying the 4th. Once Sabbath was over, Jesus rose from the dead, as He said He would; “And the third day He will rise again”. What a glorious day when Jesus rose again, fulfilling prophecy spoken even hundreds of years before. This means that if all that was prophesied about Jesus was fulfilled, then the rest of God’s word will also be fulfilled. Jesus will come again. He will not step down and touch the earth, but He will come again. Sin is defeated. God’s promise of peace and no more sin will be fulfilled. How glorious this thought is! Praise God for His great gift of salvation for all!
