If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.
God's Gift of Wisdom
A devotion for February 21st through the 27th
I don’t understand it, this isn’t making sense! I’ve checked double checked everything! What am I missing?
Being a computer programmer, I am given someone’s idea that will make things run more efficiently. “By the way we need this to work before the third quarter starts, so we can have people trained ready to go when the fourth quarter starts.” The team gets together and puts a plan together to divide and conquer this task.
A month later we meet together to give a progress report and plan the final step (or if I may put it together to operate smoothly). Our manager asks me to be the one to oversee this process. I could feel my face warming up. Stress level rising!!
I got working and things were going really smoothly. I was thanking my team and really building them up to the boss. In the meantime, I was also thanking God for His help. I was near the end and suddenly the work came to a halt. What just happened everyones part has gone smoothly and now mine was being incorporated and there’s a hiccup. I asked some of my team members to look at it and see what happened. Then looked at it from beginning to end. I just couldn’t see it. I’ll sleep on and start back on Monday. Time to prepare for the Sabbath.
I said a prayer and went to bed and asked God to bless me on His Holy Day, and to give me the wisdom and guide me on my problem at work. Sleep, yeah right. Again, I prayed for answers and guidance so I could get my rest. Ok, close your eyes, try to sleep. I started getting more comfortable. Late that night the answer came to me. Wait God it’s the Sabbath why did You give me this now, on the Sabbath. I was a little troubled by this.
Then he gave me this verse; “Do not fear, for I am with you; Do not anxiously look about you, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, surely I will help you, Surely I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.” Isaiah 41:10
He gave me the answer so I could have comfort and a wonderful night’s rest. And a great, restful Sabbath. Monday went so smoothly. Thank you, Lord.
