But I will establish My covenant with you; and you shall go into the ark—you, your sons, your wife, and your sons’ wives with you.
A covenant is sort of like a promise. It is also an agreement between God and man as well as man and man. In the New King James version of the Bible, covenant is used 280 times. Of course, God made more promises than just those. The Bible is full of promises. Studying the Bible, God’s promises are always true. During this weeks Sabbath school lesson, we are looking at covenants, specifically the covenant God made with Noah. Today, lets look at some thoughts about covenant’s, especially God’s main one.
In the lesson, there was an analogy that was used. This is a really good analogy regarding covenants. “A man has fallen overboard from a boat in the midst of a storm. Someone on the deck says that he will throw a life preserver over to haul him in. The one in the water, however, has to agree to his end of the ‘deal’, and that is to grab on and to hold on to what has been provided him.” - Sabbath School 2nd Quarter 2021 The Promise, God's Everlasting Covenant. This really does describe a bit of what a covenant between God and man is like.
God has thrown out a life preserver for each of us. His word, His commandments, His instructions. He even gave his only begotten son to die on a cross for our sins, all of us. Jesus is the life preserver and we each need to grab on and hold on so He can save us all. God has done His part. Jesus has done His part. Now it is up to us, all of us. We need to grab hold, hold on, and do our part.
God wants us to be saved, all of us. He has provided the way. It is now up to us to follow through on our part. Read your Bible, study His word, and follow His word. We also need to share His word with others. God made a covenant with all of us. God did His part. Are you ready to grab the life preserver God has provided? Are you willing to do your part? It won't be easy and it won't always be comfortable. Are you ready for all the promises God has made? It is all right here. Let’s do our part.
