Worry

Which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature?

Matthew 6:27 NKJV

Midweek Thoughts

The other day I started work and after a short time started having an issue with a computer system that took an hour to work out.  It took an hour of my work time and this week we have more work than ever, and every moment needs to be spent working.  But there I was trying to work with IT to get a system to work correctly.

I found myself worrying about the lost hour not being able to do any work.  I Let myself worry, and it didn’t make the situation any better.  After the system began working and I got off the phone with IT, I decided it was time to listen to a couple devotions I like to listen to in the mornings.  I get them emailed to me each morning and I can listen to them while I work.  They are short and always speak to me.  This one really spoke to me.

It was from It Is Written and the title of it was, of all things, Worry.  As I noticed the title and hit play, I began to smile and said “okay God, I hear you.  This is directed at me and coming straight from you”.  I listened to it and the next one I had.  The rest of the day I spent talking to God while I worked.  There was another glitch in the workday, but it passed quickly as I continued my conversation with God.

We must remember, worry does not solve any problem, it creates more than it has ever helped with.  It’s also important to remember how big God is.  He is bigger than anything we could worry about! Worry doesn’t add anything of benefit.  We need to put our faith in the One who conquers all fear.

Hear His voice when He speaks.  Let Him take care of anything that comes up.  He is bigger than any problem and has already won the biggest battle there is.  Have faith in Him.
