but whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst. But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life.
Water is important for life, in more ways than one. Water sustains our bodies and is necessary for proper function of our bodies. We are made up of up to 60% water. I love flavored water. My husband often chuckles when I tell him I need to “make some water”. I know, it sounds funny. After all, I can’t make water. No one can. There is only One who made water. God created water along with everything else at creation. God’s water is the most pure, clean, and safe to drink. It has a taste like no other.
We also try to make water better. We filter it, we flavor it, we do whatever we can to try and make it taste better and be good for the body. You see, man has polluted God’s water, God’s word, and made it impure. We, as humans, think we know best. We think we can create wonderful things like no other. We are always trying to make things better. At creation, everything was perfect. Then sin entered the world. Once sin entered the water became polluted. This happens to God’s word too. We think we can change it so that it is better. We don’t have to take it for what it is, direction on how to live. We take it as a suggestion then decide if we want to follow it or not.
When we turn to our heavenly Father, confess our sins, confess we are nothing without Him, and ask for Him to guide us, He will be there. We can do nothing without Him. Philippians 4:13 says “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” We need to remember that only through Christ can we do anything. Ask God to make you clean, purify you. Live your life like Jesus did. God will fill you with His pure, living water.
