Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. What you have learned and received and heard and seen in me—practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you.
Voices, so many voices. We all hear the voices in our heads, our minds. Voices that say “you aren’t good enough”, “you aren’t smart enough”, “you are a failure”, “you are not worthy” or “no one likes you” just to name a few. Some of the voices say horrible things and make us think we should do things we really shouldn’t. Many times, if we listen to the voices, we later regret doing something that seemed right at the time. Or maybe we just end up in a dark place with no self-esteem at all. Sometimes these bad voices seem to drown out all the good ones and we slip farther and farther into a pit.
When we start hearing these negative voices we need to learn to turn toward God. Stop the voices. Tell them to go away. Remember what the Bible says about how God loves you. What He did because He wants you with Him for eternity. Pray, read the Bible, most of all, listen to the voice of God.
Jesus was sent to die for us because God feels each and every one of us is worthy. God wants us with Him for eternity. To God you are worthy, you are good enough, you are smart enough, you are not a failure, and most of all, you are loved. Turn away from sin, turn away from the negative voice of Satan and turn to the One who loves you. The One who died for you. Listen to His voice. Know that you are loved and you are worthy. His voice is the only one we should listen to. His voice is like the sweet song of a bird. God’s sweet voice of love.
