Too Good To Be True

Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life.

John 5:24 NKJV

Midweek thoughts

How often do we hear the phrase “too good to be true”.  We use this often about so many things.  Or we hear something or see something and realize it was too good to be true.  We will hear something that just sounds so good, but we just don’t see how it could be true.  Fanciful stories always get people thinking so much of it is way too good to be true.  But there is one thing that isn’t, and it’s the best thing of all.

Many people hear the stories in the Bible and think there is no way they are true.  Look at Noah and the ark.  People just don’t see how it is possible that any of it happened.  Many people don’t believe in Jesus and the price He paid for our salvation.  People feel the Bible is just a fairy tale, none of it real.  With all the parts of the Bible that talk about Jesus coming again, and He hasn’t, people feel it never will.  It’s all too good to be true.

What everyone is missing is the fact that much of what happened in the Bible has already been proven in history.  The part that hasn’t happened yet, Jesus’ return, will no doubt happen in God’s time.  Think about how glorious it will be when Jesus returns.  Think about all the promises God has made about the second coming and what eternity will be like.  The peace, no sin, just glorious peace.

It does sound too good to be true but for me, these thoughts give me hope.  Hope for peace.  Hope for eternity in a wonderful place.  No more pain, no more horrible things going on.  No more death or loss.  Peace and peace alone surrounded by the ones we love and the gloriousness of God.

I don’t know about you, but I will take the “too good to be true”.  It’s far better than anything else in the world today.
