Thoughts Change the Heart

A glad heart makes a cheerful face, but by sorrow of heart the spirit is crushed.

Midweek Thoughts

I was doing something on the Internet the other day when a quick story ran across my eyes.  I only caught a small bit of what it was talking about but that little bit stuck with me.  There was a study done by the National Science Foundation that showed we have approximately 12,000 to 50,000 thoughts per day.  The amazing part to me is it showed 80% of those thoughts are negative.  Think about that for a minute.  80% of our thoughts are negative every day.  That is an amazing number!

When we spend that much time having negative thoughts, it has an effect on the heart.  It can cause us to be sad, depressed, and to feel hopeless.  Negative thoughts have such a profound effect on every aspect of our lives, including our health.  It leads to negative behaviors and opens the door for sin to enter.

When thoughts begin to turn in a negative direction, turn them around.  Talk to our heavenly Father and ask for His help to banish those negative thoughts and turn them into positive ones!  When we start to change the direction of our thoughts from negative to positive it begins to lift us up, bringing us closer to Him.

Take that frown and turn it around.  Pray and fill your mind with thoughts of Him and all good things.  Instead of a crushed spirit you will find yourself walking with Jesus.
