Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?
As the Bible says, Satan is very subtle. From the beginning when he first tempted Eve, he did it in a way that she didn’t even realize it was happening. Satan appears to us in forms other than who he really is. He can be as simple as a good time, a very pretty face, empowerment, anything that is inviting to us, that is how he works. He will quietly sneak in, present something appealing to us, and wait for us to take the bait. Then he starts to reel us in, like a fisherman reeling in a fish.
Satan knows the best way to snare us is to be subtle, crafty, cunning, any way that makes it seem like it is a good thing and we start following him. Once we take the bait, we slowly start to slip down into his dark pit. It’s so slow we don’t even know it’s happening. Before we know it there is another temptation and another, all calling out to us that it’s okay, it’s good, we will gain so much. Not once does he show his true self. Not once do we see him for who he really is. But sometimes, the light comes on.
When we have a close relationship with our heavenly Father, we can sometimes see when something isn’t quite right. We read God’s word and He speaks to us telling us that “thing” that seemed so appealing really isn’t what we thought it should be. God is always there, trying to pull us back. It’s up to us to make the choice. Do we choose the appealing thing Satan put before us? Or do we choose the lightened path that leads to everlasting life! It’s not always an easy choice for us. But following God is always the best choice there is!
The choice is there. Life or death?
