And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.
This past Sabbath we had a special Thanksgiving Sabbath. It was a wonderful service. There was music and talk of God’s word. We heard about giving thanks to God for His word, His character, spiritual blessings, and family, friends and church. During the offering we all brought up bags and boxes of non-perishable food items to be used to fill 6 boxes with food to be delivered next weekend to 6 needy families. It was a time to really think about the things we are thankful for.
Thank God for His word. His word is full of prophesy telling us everything that will happen. His word is full of His love, His guidance, His direction, and His promises. There is one main promise that we all should hold onto, salvation. He has given us His promise and he fulfilled that promise through Jesus. Thank Him for His word for His word is truth.
Thank God for His character. The Bible is full of wonderful descriptions of who God is, His character. Many time people don’t understand what they read. But if you study each verse, you will see a picture of God’s character that shines through. Thank Him for His character for He is love.
Thank God for spiritual blessings. If we spent more time thinking about everything God does for us each day we would see and feel more of God’s spiritual blessings. There are so many moments that we miss seeing His blessings. Especially the blessing of Salvation. Thank Him for spiritual blessings.
Thank God for family, friends, and church. There is too much to unpack with this one. We need to be thankful for our families and what they provide for us. We also need to be thankful for our friends, especially the ones who lift us up. Ultimately, we need to be thankful for church and our church family. Through church we learn more and gain more of a firm hold on Him. Thank Him for all the people in your life, family, friends, and church.
Every day find time to give thanks to God for everything. Find time also to give to others. After all, He has given us so much! We need to share!
Thank You Heavenly Father for every breath, every moment. Guide me to show others You in all my actions. May I always remember to be thankful to You for all the love You give.
