For You will light my lamp; The Lord my God will enlighten my darkness.
It was approximately 6:00 pm and I was driving down a highway. In the distance was a large bank of clouds. I could see large flashes of lightning in the clouds. With my destination stilled in my mind I kept pushing forward. So did the cloud which seemed to be getting bigger and bigger, and the lightning more numerous. We were set for a collision course. Soon the sun disappeared and it started sprinkling. Then flash, followed by a boom and some rumbling that seemed to go on for a long time. Echoing back and forth across the cloud. All of a sudden rain, and boy do I mean rain. I dropped the wiper controller so they were on FULL SPEED. Rain is competitive though. With another flash of lightning and again another thunderous boom, it rained harder. It was almost as if it said, “high speed, yeah I have higher speed”. After about ½ an hour the rain slowed and then eventually stopped.
It was now around 7:45 pm and I could see where there was a small break in the clouds in the distance. Again, another cloud bank was behind the break ready for more havoc again. Then all of a sudden, the most beautiful display of colored light came shining through. The upper layer of clouds was silver lined and the lower clouds looked gold lined. Through the clear area came an array of colors, yellows, oranges, reds, etc. all the clouds were full of color.
The devil brings storms into our lives and sin seems to take control of everything we do. No matter how much we try to do. He keeps pouring it on more and more. Everything seems to be falling apart before our eyes. Then we remember that the bible tells us in 2 Chronicles 7:14, “Then if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and restore their land.”
We get down on our knees and pray for His forgiveness and His Holy Spirit to guide our lives. It is then that the storms move out, and God’s light fills your heart.
