Sowing Seeds

Now may He who supplies seed to the sower, and bread for food, supply and multiply the seed you have sown and increase the fruits of your righteousness,

A devotional for March 20th through the 26th

Today my husband and I went to our church to put down grass seed.  We have an area out front that was badly in need of seed to grow new grass.  My husband used the mower with devices to prepare the ground for spring while I scattered grass seed everywhere in this area.  It was hard work and now we wait for rain and pray the grass seed fills in the area.  I started thinking about planting seeds.

God wants us to sow seeds.  We are not expected to change anyone or anything.  We are expected to sow seeds.  We throw out the seeds in our behaviors, what we say, and how we are toward others.  Then we pray for the rain to come, the Holy Spirit, to water the seeds and make them grow.  We throw the seeds; God makes them grow.

We can either throw good seeds, seeds of encouragement, hope, respect, truth, and love, or we can throw out bad seeds, seeds of frustration, prejudice, lies, and hate.  Depending on the seeds we throw out we will either help plant goodness in a heart, or sadness.  God wants the good things to be used.  That way He can grow a loving, caring, person who wants to follow Jesus rather than someone who blames God for everything and wants nothing to do with Him.

Throw out the good seeds.  Let’s show Jesus to all those who are disheartened.  Throw the good seed and pray for rain, the Holy Spirit, to come, water, and grow the little, tiny seeds into beautiful people ready to meet God!  Grow a relationship in ourselves as well as in others that prepares us all for the second coming of Jesus.
