Secrets

Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.

James 5:16 NKJV

Midweek Thoughts

Are there secrets hiding within your mind?  Most of us have things that we hide inside.  Things we don’t want anyone to know about.  Sometimes they can be simple, small things.  Things that are not a huge deal.  Other times they can be dark secrets.  Things we are ashamed of but just can’t quite let go.  Sometimes we can think that if we keep it inside and don’t let anyone know about them, we can work on them by ourselves and “fix” the problem.  This only makes it harder to deal with whatever secret we are hiding.  Satan loves it when we hide our sins.

The bible says to confess our sins and He will forgive us (1 John 1:9).  We need to confess our sins if we truly want God to help us.  We have to be honest and stop hiding, stop pretending.  Only when we confess our sins can God truly help us.  Once everything is out in the open, He then can go to work.  It isn’t easy and can be quite challenging depending on the secret.

The bible also says we are to confess to one another (James 5:16).  When we actually verbalize, out loud, our secrets to others God will use this to move in our lives.  He places people in our path to help us.  He will guide, if we let Him, our actions to correct the problem as well as those placed in our path.  Sometimes when we confess to another, they suggest something we can do that is just what we need at that time.  This is God working.

Confess your sins, not just to God but to each other.  Seek out Godly friends.  Talk with them.  Have conversations.  Communication is the most important tool we can use to work through situations, and it is also a way to “hear” God’s direction.  Pray and talk with God.  Pray and talk with others.  This is the way to bring out hidden secrets, hidden sins, and be able to banish them forever.

Only when we are honest and communicate can the healing process truly begin.
