Right Beside Us

Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said, ‘I will never leave you nor forsake you.’

Hebrews 13:5 NKJV

A Devotion for November 5th through the 11th

We often find ourselves dealing with thoughts, anxieties, struggles, and trials.  It seems we are on a roller coaster with our emotions.  There are highs and lows.  Sometimes the lows seem as if they are a desert valley, vast and filled with nothing and no one as far as the eye can see and the highs are fleeting moments that just don’t seem to last.

We can get stuck in a dark place so easily and not sure how to get out.  It can go on for days, weeks, even months.  We want out of the place we are in but have no idea how.  It can take a toll on us and wear us out, emotionally and physically.  It is a time where we need something to just hold onto to get us through until we come out on the other side.

When we find ourselves in these low places, the dark place we can’t find our way out of, we need to hold onto Him.  God is there with us.  He may not magically make everything suddenly better, bringing us to a high spot again. But He does promise to be right there beside us, sometimes carrying us, walking that dark path with us.  He promises to never leave us.

Even when it doesn’t feel like we are going up and out of the dark places, holding onto Him can help guide us through.  He can be our strength and our comforter.

Pray, and keep praying.  Pour out your heart to Him.  Eventually He will see you through the darkness and back out into the high place full of light.
