For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I have been fully known.
Happy New Year! Today is the first day of the new year. This devotion is written for the week, but I have decided to write and post on the first day. When the year changes, we often spend time reflecting on the previous year. I choose, when I look back, to look at the many blessings. Sometimes it’s challenging to see blessings when we have gone through a difficult year. Still, it’s best to reflect on the blessings and pray for more blessings and opportunities for the new year.
If you spend time looking for the blessings, even when a situation was difficult, you would be amazed at the things you realize were blessings! Even waking up in the morning and getting out of bed is a blessing. Having a job to go to that provides income to pay the bills is a great blessing.
We often don’t think about the little things that are big blessings. It’s important to ponder the little things. Having fresh fruit from the store, clothes to wear, shelter over our heads. Things we don’t often think about or realize are blessings. We often take these things for granted. They are right there, all the little things God puts before us. We don’t always see them until we reflect on time that has passed.
Today I welcome a new year, and I pray everyone is looking forward to the opportunities He is putting in our path to help us grow. I pray we all see each of the blessings, big and small. I pray we all praise His name. We would not be welcoming another year full of blessings if it were not for Him. See yourself, and your future, through His eyes.
Reflect on the past, look forward to more opportunities, and thank Him and praise Him for all the blessings! Go forth knowing He is there!
