Reflection

The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of His being, sustaining all things by His powerful word. After He had provided purification for sins, He sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven.

Hebrews 1:3 NIV

A Devotion for October 10th through the 16th

My husband and I were driving the other day past a little lake.  As I gazed out of the passenger window, I noticed this lake.  The water was so still that it looked like a mirror.  The water was perfectly still reflecting the shoreline, the trees, the sky, and the clouds.  Looking at the reflection, I began thinking about how beautiful this reflection was.  After some time, I began wondering what my reflection was.

When we look in the mirror, we see ourselves, our reflection.  That is not what I want others to see.  I want others to look at me and see a better reflection, that of our savior, Jesus.  We should all want others to look at us and see Him and not ourselves.

We are broken, we are sinners, we are not able to be beautiful reflections on our own.  We need Jesus.  By spending time in His word and spending time studying and praying, building our relationship with Him, our reflection should become more like Him.  As people look at us, they should be able to see Him in our lives.  Our actions should reflect Him.  Our words should reflect Him.

By reflecting His actions and words, doing as He would do, our reflection becomes the reflection He wants us to have.  We were created in His image.  His image is an image of perfect love.  When we spend time with Him in His word, we begin to show Him in all aspects of our lives.  Then, and only then, are we true reflections of Him.

Polish your reflection.  Connect with God in His word and start living your life the way Jesus did.  What a beautiful reflection!  Perfect Love!
