Redirection

A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.'

John 13:34-35 NKJV

A devotional for October 15th to the 21st

Today was a normal first day of the week.  We started our day doing our usual errands and getting things ready for the work week to start.  Sometimes the first day of the week is the busiest!  Toward the middle of the afternoon, we ran out to do a couple more errands before coming home.  During this last errand trip is when we got a “redirection” from God.

As we were driving to a shoe store, we noticed a sign on a restaurant and talked about possibly going there for supper.  When we left the shoe store my husband was almost on the main road when I said “wait, didn’t you want to go to for supper?”.  At this my husband turned around and went back agreeing we had talked about that.  So, to the restaurant we went.

We got our order in and were just sitting down at our table when my husband and I noticed a young lady leaving after saying goodbye to her mother.  They were behind me so I couldn’t really see much but I saw her go past.  My husband quietly said he was concerned about the woman left at the table.  He had heard and seen similar exchanges between me and my daughter, so he felt she had some pain.  I said to my husband “perhaps we should pray?” and he began to get up and go to her table, so I followed.

First the woman asked where we were coming from with our concern.  In a nutshell we said we felt God wanted us to pray.  We discovered that this woman was Christian and doing the best she could to maintain trust with her daughter even though her daughter had so many struggles. We listened to her story, shared a bit, and then we all bowed our heads, and each said a prayer.  We prayed for each other.  We prayed for friends and family.  We prayed for support.  Mostly we prayed praise for our Heavenly Father and the moment he gifted each of us for this opportunity. We were all uplifted and all grateful for His opportunity to show Him to one another.

Don’t miss His opportunities.  They are all around us.  Pray and uplift each other always.  We are all His disciples.
