As for God, His way is perfect; The word of the Lord is proven; He is a shield to all who trust in Him.
A devotion for July 7th through the 13th
The Bible is filled with so much prophecy, most of which happened long after it was foretold. Story after story (many in the Old Testament) show in the New Testament, and history, that they were fulfilled. Studying the Bible and comparing it to history is such a wonderful journey. The more prophecy we read about then learn how it came to pass, the more our faith grows in His word. The more truth we see. The more we understand about what is to come.
One of my favorite chapters in the Bible is Isaiah 53. If you have not read it, please do. If you know anything about the life and death of Jesus, you will see Him all over this short chapter. I had heard it once referred to as the “forbidden chapter” by some. I was not familiar with it at the time so decided to read it so I could understand. From the first verse through to the last, tears welled in my eyes. I learned it is sad and beautiful all at the same time.
From the very first verse going all the way to the end, it speaks of Jesus. It describes in amazing detail His walk to the cross. This is a chapter that should be read and reread, studied, and contemplated. A comparison to what the Gospels say of Jesus’ crucifixion and this chapter show in amazing detail God’s prophetic word, how things of the future were given to those way before they were to happen. Hundreds of years, maybe more, before they happened.
God speaks through His prophets. Much of what has been written has happened. There are parts of Daniel and Revelation still to come. I believe because God showed us. So much already has. The rest will too.
