If the Lord delights in us, then He will bring us into this land and give it to us, ‘a land which flows with milk and honey.’
“Let’s enter the exodus!”
She beams with glee
No more a slave
I am finally free!
God split the sea,
So I could walk on through,
Isn’t he amazing!
There’s nothing he can’t do!
But then her days grew long
And sorrow filled her song
So quickly she forgot
So quickly she longed
To go back home
Cause surely that pain
Was more bearable then this
In a God forsaken land
But he gave her manna
and she did eat
Yes he gave her water
From the rock flowing free
It always brought relief
To her suffering, brought peace
But not long and she forgot
Oh how he wished she would see
She begged to go home,
but it was just as far away
As the promised land ahead
So she pulled through the pain
Snakes and a cross
She wondered and felt lost
She thought the only way out,
Was to pull through the dross
“I’m searching for the promised land”
Was being said with no glee
Because what she wanted was physical
And that was never to be
What she needed to see
Was her need of him
And forty years of wilderness
Didn’t teach her a thing
He wanted her to enter
He wanted to see her beam
But she wouldn’t die to self
Nor surrender to him
So in the wilderness she stayed
To and fro she swayed
Oh how I wished she’d see
The promised land is He!
But the story tells
That she never learned
Lord hold fast to me
I don’t want to be her!
I want to see your beauty
Shining deep and through me
Lord give me strength to let go,
To hold to you as my hope.
Don’t let the pain distract me
Don’t let the heat beat on me
I want to focus on you
I want you to lead me
Into the promised land
Where it’s just me and you
Lord let me find my home
Deep in the heart of you
