Pray like this: Our Father in heaven, may your name be kept holy. May your Kingdom come soon. May your will be done on earth, as it is in heaven. Give us today the food we need, and forgive us our sins, as we have forgiven those who sin against us. And don’t let us yield to temptation, but rescue us from the evil one.
For the first time our church participated in the 10 Days of Prayer. From January 8th through the 18th we went to church every evening, although there was one night I did it on Zoom to accommodate those who lived farther away. It was a true blessing each night. It was even more a blessing since on day 9 we lost a beloved member of our church.
It is never easy losing someone you love. Grief is a powerful emotion that often lingers and can feel overwhelming. During this difficult time, the nightly gatherings for prayer provided immense comfort and support. Each night of the 10 Days of Prayer we discussed a different part of the Lord’s prayer. What a blessing. There were tears, laughs, discussion, thoughts, and lots of prayer. The way our pastor presented it, his outline, was wonderful too.
Each night our pastor would read through all the prayer requests from previous nights, get updates and praises, and then add to the list. By the end he had 3 pages, single spaced, typed on his computer of all the prayer requests and all the ways many had been answered. Praise God! At the end of each night we would gather in a circle, hold hands, and take turns praying. We prayed for so much and saw answers, or the beginning of answers, to many.
Prayer is so important. It is our connection to the One who is there for us through every hill and valley. He is our friend, our Father, our Lord. He wants a relationship with us, and He wants to hear from us. Pray daily, multiple times a day. Try writing down your prayers and then see how they are answered. Praise God for His faithfulness!
