New Year, New Opportunities

God did this so that they would seek Him and perhaps reach out for Him and find Him, though He is not far from any one of us.

Acts 17:27 NIV

A devotion for January 1st through the 6th

Here we are again celebrating the start of another year.  This is the time of year many people make new year resolutions.  Most of the time these resolutions don’t last long.  Usually by mid-January or so people are either giving up on them or they are long from their thoughts.  It’s just one of those things people feel they need to do but putting in the effort for lasting change just doesn’t seem as easy as they first thought.

I understand the desire to make resolutions the beginning of the year.  It’s a new year and everyone wants to get a start to making things better.  Might be personally, professionally, educationally, relationship wise, with habits, or even spiritually.  It makes sense.  We are often frustrated with something we would like to change or improve.  I personally feel this is something we should do daily, especially when it comes to our relationship with God.

Every morning is a new day God has gifted us.  Every day He fills it with many opportunities.  Little ones, big ones, they are what we make of them.  We can choose to turn away from the opportunities or we can choose to meet them and follow where He leads.  Many times, people think they always have tomorrow.  Sometimes tomorrow doesn’t come.

Don’t wait until tomorrow to have a relationship with God.  You may not have that chance.  Take the opportunity today, that’s why God gave you today.  It will lead to a beautiful eternity surrounded by love.
