Then Jesus declared, ‘I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.
I have talked about numbers in the Bible before. I did a whole devotion on the number 3. I mentioned the number 40 and touched on the number 12 and 7. This weekend the number 7 appeared to me again, this time in a way I had not seen yet. It always amazes me the way God speaks to us, sometimes in obvious ways and other times subtly. I love it when I realize or see something I didn’t see before.
I was reading through various Sabbath school lessons, and one advised me to use various tools to look at the “I am” statements, especially in the book of John. I decided to Google and see what I found. As I scrolled through the various sites Google found I noticed that they all said the “7” statements.
Everywhere had the same 7 “I am” statements. They were as follows:
Each statement is Jesus proclaiming His divinity, the essence of who He is. There is so much depth to each statement. So much of who Jesus is expressed in 7 short “I am” statements. Think of what those statements mean. For me, they mean everything. They mean He is everything to all of us.
Praise His Holy name!
