Commit your work to the Lord, and your plans will be established.
This has been a rather difficult week. We all have them from time to time. We get busy, tired, and things just get too overwhelming. We find ourselves zoning out or falling asleep. We have a list of things we need to attend to but instead we nap or play a game on our phone or computer. Instead of checking things off our list we find ourselves just wasting time getting nothing done. Then we start to feel bad because we didn’t get the things done we should have. This has been me this week.
I thought about this on my way home this evening after spending some time having supper with a friend. I’m tired. Very tired. My mind just doesn’t want to form any kind of thought. I don’t want to do anything. I just want to go home and go to bed. There are things that need done though. Things that should have been done days ago, such as this devotion. I wrote one the other night then proceeded to delete it because it didn’t seem to go anywhere. So here I sit, making another attempt.
What occurred to me tonight was the thought “just do it”. I don’t know why but those words came into my head. Then I started to think about how we do things when we are told or asked. Have I been told? Have I been asked? Yes. God has been nudging me all week. I’ve just been too tired to listen. There are so many things He has asked me to do, and I have done only a small part.
Rather than making excuses, just do it. When you are asked, do it. God isn’t forceful, He’s gentle. He nudges here and there. He puts opportunities before us. We just have to step forward and “do it”.
We need to step out of our comfort zone and just do it. What do we do? Share God’s message with others. Share God’s love. Be a servant. We are to serve. Just do it.
He makes it so worth it!
