Hot Tea

Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God;

Philippians 4:6 NKJV

Midweek Thoughts

Every morning I like to have a cup of hot tea.  I also like to have a cup before bed at night.  There is something soothing about drinking hot tea.  I heat up the water until it’s very hot, almost boiling, drop in a tea bag and put in a little stevia.  Then I wait.  That’s the part I don’t like, waiting.  I so want to start sipping the tea.  Sometimes I even try to take a little sip, nearly burning my lip or mouth.  I’m just not patient enough.

Making my tea the other day and going through what has become a routine, I started thinking.  My eagerness to drink my tea before its time is similar to having to wait for God to answer our prayers.  We pray then want the answer right then, we don’t want to wait.

We need to remember; our timing is not right.  We don’t wait for the right time to sip the tea.  God’s timing, however, is perfect.  God presents us with the answer to prayer at just the right time.  His answer is also right.  We think we know what needs to happen, what the answer needs to be.  God knows better.

When we pray, we need to sit back and wait.  Patiently wait.  God will answer our prayer in His time and in His way.  We need to have faith.  Faith that God will answer.  God’s answer will also be better than we could ever have imagined.  Praise God!
