Midweek Thoughts

In our weekly bible study, we are going through a book called “The Road: A Journey Through the Narrative of Scripture” by Marcos D Torres.  Each week we read a section, read the scriptures, and discuss what we are learning or getting out of the lessons.  It is always amazing the things that are shared and thoughts that God gives each of us through each lesson.  In the lesson, there are also QR codes for videos and there is a website where you can see the videos.  It’s informative and really makes you think.

During the lesson last night, I was listening to something our pastor was saying as a comment, and I happened to see a card in front of me that I was moved to share.  It has a bible verse on it, but from the Phillips edition.  “You can throw the whole weight of your anxieties upon Him for you are His personal concern” 1 Peter 5:7.

I have read this verse many times and it is a good one to keep in mind when we are anxious or troubled, but this particular version really made me think.  I am His personal concern?  He, the God of the universe, the creator of all things, thinks of me as His personal concern!  Not just me either.  Each of us are His personal concern.  He is concerned about us and wants the best for us.  It’s personal!

Then one of my church family shared something that was said in one of the videos that accompanied this lesson.  “He doesn’t just love us, He likes us!”  Think about that! We often love our family and friends but many times we don’t like them very much.  Maybe we don’t want to be around them much.  God, on the other hand, likes us!  He wants to be with us.  He wants to spend time with us.  He wants us to talk with Him and spend time with Him.  That is an amazing thing to realize.  We are not just loved, we are liked!

Spend time journeying through scripture.  Spend time communing with our Heavenly Father.  He doesn’t just love us, but He likes us as well!
