He is Coming Again

But while he thought about these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, ‘Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take to you Mary your wife, for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit. And she will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins.’

Matthew 1:20-21 NKJV

A devotion for December 17th through the 23rd

It’s the time of year when many people not only celebrate Christmas but spend time reflecting on Jesus’ birth.  The Bible does not say the specific day He was born but does hint at it being more like September or October.  But still, this is the time many reflect on His first coming, as a small child.  This thought alone is amazing to me.

Imagine how much love God has for all of us.  His love is so immense that He chose to come down and come into this world as a little baby.  He chose to come and live amongst us.  He set an example for all to see how to live life in the right way, on the right path.  He did all this because of His love for us.  He came to save us all.  He was born to die.

He paid the price we owed.  He led a sinless life and became the offering to cleanse us of our sin.  It’s an amazing thing to contemplate.  The lengths He went to for us.  And it’s not over.

One day soon, Jesus will come again.  He will be in the clouds, and He will raise His bride up to join Him.  Then there will be no end.  Everything He did, from coming down as a little baby to taking that walk to the cross was all done so we could live with Him for eternity.

Meditate on all of this over the next week.  Then thank Him for the greatest gift ever given.  Prepare because He is coming again!
