He

If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

1 John 1:9 NKJV

A devotion for March 13th through the 19th

This past Sabbath I had the privilege to sing the song “He” at church with two other church members.  This song was requested, and it is truly beautiful with touching words.  They even moved one church member to tears.  The words were written by Richard Mullan with music by Jack Richards.  It has been sung by Tammy Wynette and Wintley Phipps.  The music is so pretty, and the words touch the soul.

Some of the most touching words from the song are “Though it makes Him sad to see the way we live, He’ll always say ‘I forgive’”.  Think about these words.  The way we live as sinful humans here on earth makes Him sad.  Our poor choices, the many things that we do that are not right, not in line with His word makes Him sad.

The song talks about how great our Heavenly Father is.  He can calm an angry sea. He decides who writes a symphony. He lights the stars. He alone can grant a wish. He can paint the clouds and turn the sky blue.  He alone knows where the rainbow ends.  The song goes on saying what He does for us.  He keeps watch during the night.  He finds the time to hear a child’s first prayer.  He knows what lies beyond the bend.  The key lyrics that really touch me are when it says, “Saint or sinner call and always find Him there” as well as “He knows every lie that you and I have told”.  The last one cuts deep.

Through it all, He forgives.  His love shows through.  We need to pray, confess, turn away from all the wrong, and welcome His forgiveness.  If we turn to Him with a repentant heart, He will always forgive.  Reach out to Him today.  He is right there, ready to forgive.
