Have Confidence in Him

It is not the capabilities you now possess, or ever will have, that will give you success. It is that which the Lord can do for you. We need to have far less confidence in what man can do, and far more confidence in what God can do for every believing soul. He longs to have you reach after Him by faith. He longs to have you expect great things from Him. He longs to give you understanding in temporal as well as in spiritual matters. He can sharpen the intellect. He can give tact and skill. Put your talents into the work, ask God for wisdom, and it will be given you.

A devotion for October 16th through the 22nd

My dear friend sent me the above quote tonight.  It had been sent to her by a Pastor.  This really spoke to me.

There are a few things I have been told I’m good at.  Things I enjoy, like photography.  I have found that when I go out in nature and look at the great beauty God has created, I am moved.  I want to capture what I am seeing to the best of my ability so I can share it with others.  Not for my glory, for His!  He created each flower, tree, bee, butterfly, sunrise, and sunset.  They are all His creations.  I just like being able to hopefully, show others the glory of God that I see in each of His creations I capture.

We need to have confidence in His plans for us, not ours.  If we lean more on ourselves and don’t have faith in Him, don’t rely on Him, we will falter. We need to always keep in mind, it is not us it is Him.  We all have talents, things we are good at.  We need to remember that every skill, every talent, is a gift from God.  We need to use those gifts for His glory.  When we ask Him to work in our lives, He will.  When we use our talents to glorify Him, the glory is His, not ours.

Use your talents to glorify Him in any way you can.  Have confidence that He will answer all prayers and He will help you grow.  After all, your talents are a gift from Him, and He wants you to use them.
