And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.
Grief is something my family has gone through quite a bit this year. It is something we all go through during this life. We can grieve for many different things but the biggest and most common is the loss of a loved one. This grief can be difficult to bear. We feel sad, empty, lost, so many different emotions. It’s different for everyone. So how do you cope through loss after loss? By turning to our heavenly Father.
The most recent loss was a woman of great faith. Her relationship with the Lord was so great. She trusted in Him through her own loss of her husband and everything life threw her way. God blessed her through it all. She had a firm relationship with Him and often times talked about having His peace. This speaks to me personally.
Through everything that has happened this year, and especially through the last couple of weeks, I have turned to God as she would have wanted me to. I have prayed, sang hymns, and praised His Holy name. I am sad, I have cried, but through it all I have heard the words “well done my good and faithful servant” (Matthew 25:23). I know this applies to her. She will hear these words when she next opens her eyes and looks upon the face of Jesus. You see, she rests in Jesus.
There is a quote from Queen Elizabeth II, “Grief is the price we pay for love”. This is a price I am willing to pay. I will continue to love others, no matter this price. God so loved each and every one of us He sent His only begotten son (John 3:16). I know God has gone through the same emotions we have, including grief. He is a God of Love. It is because of Him that I can move forward and travel the path of grief still loving Him and all around me.
Praise God for all His promises and accept the comfort of His word.
