God’s Wondrous Works

I will meditate on the glorious splendor of Your majesty, And on Your wondrous works.

Psalm 145:5 NKJV

A devotion for November 10th through the 16th

This past weekend my husband and I along with another couple, went on a weekend trip to take some donated items our church collected up to an Indian reservation in South Dakota, Rosebud. We stayed in a hotel in Valentine Nebraska.  On Sabbath, we spent the day being Jesus up on the reservation for a short time then went back down to Valentine and spent the rest of the day driving around a nature preserve there, Fort Niobrara National Wildlife Refuge.

It had rained the night before and was very cloudy all day.  Occasionally there would be some light sprinkles.  It was nice just driving around seeing the sights.  The evening before we managed to see some deer.  I loved this as I was able to capture God’s creations in a decent way with my camera, my favorite thing to do! On Sabbath, we were extremely excited as we were able to see Buffalo up close!

They allowed us to drive slowly past, taking pictures and posing so nicely.  Then we went and took pictures from a nice lookout that showed the whole valley and part of the river below. We decided to leave that area and go back to the other side as we could see another lookout that we thought would be interesting.  As we were leaving, we had a slight problem.  The buffaloes were on the road blocking our exit!

It took a bit of time and very slowly moving the car forward at small intervals as we prayed they would leave the road and not damage our vehicle.  Slowly we made our way past and went on our way to the other side. It was such an awesome experience and the joy we felt spending Sabbath just seeing God’s beautiful creations was such a delight!

God’s creations, all of them, are so wonderful to behold. Every detail, no matter how small, carefully placed by our Heavenly Father’s loving hand. Every detail of the deer, the buffalo, and even the small bit of fog or mist lifting off the ground and drifting up into the clouds all play a part in God’s great plan. All are reminders of the love He has for each of us.

Look around nature and see all the signs He places right before us. With loving care, He is there for us, guiding us, and longing for us to turn to Him, repent, and come home with Him when Jesus returns. Close your eyes, breathe deep, and feel His loving hand all around you.
