God's Garden

And out of the ground the Lord God made every tree grow that is pleasant to the sight and good for food. The tree of life was also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.

Genesis 2:9

A devotional for November 28th through December 4th

Recently, my husband and I returned from a trip to Hawaii, the Big Island to be exact.  The intent of the trip was to reunite with my father.  This was not my first time being to the islands but it was my husbands, and my first to this island.  During the trip, my father took us all over the island.  We were able to see so many parks, towns, roads, animals, trees, and flowers.  I was amazed by the beauty and the number of trees bearing fruit!  You could pull the car over, pick fruit, and be on your way.

Driving all over and walking on trails I was taken by the vast array of colors and fruits.  It made me think that in some ways, this was like Eden.  I’m sure Eden was more beautiful with even more of an array of color and fruit but still, it gave me an idea of what it might have been like walking in the garden God created.  God also created all I was seeing.

I love being out in God’s nature.  I am always amazed by the detail, colors, and varieties.  I know I have not even seen all that there is either.  I love seeing God’s creations, even the animals.  It is a glimpse of what God has in store for us when Jesus returns.  The vast beauty we can only imagine and it will be even better than that!

Imagine all the most beautiful plants, flowers, and trees.  All the types of fruit and vegetables growing everywhere, food always available for everyone to have what they want when they want.  Animals of all types being friendly.  And people mingling with each other, no one being offended by anything, everyone accepting each other without question, no one angry.  Peace.  A beautiful garden filled with wonderous creatures and nothing but love and peace.  What a promise God has for us!

God will do everything He promises.  Let’s all do what we need to in order to make sure each and every one of us is able to walk through God’s most beautiful garden!  Praise His holy name!
