The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands.
Sometimes the best thing we can do when we are just struggling, feeling down, whatever it might be, is to get outside and enjoy nature. I know for me I always feel so much better when I am surrounded by God’s beautiful creations. There is something about being outside surrounded by blue sky, trees, and all the variety of birds and critters. This past weekend I had the opportunity to spend a great deal of time outside, sitting by a lake, surrounded by family both human and not human.
Camping is a way to really get in touch with His creations at a wonderful level. For me, taking a walk with my camera and seeing little details in the trees, flowers, and animals is so much fun. God always blesses me with some wonderful shots as well as wonderful memories. Sitting by the lake with family, camera in hand, I would watch for opportunities to capture His creations with my camera. God never disappoints.
It is relaxing, rejuvenating, and lifts my heart. No matter what is going on in my life, getting away and surrounding myself in this way always lifts me. It gives me time to also just talk to Him about the wonderous things I see and the detail He put into each one. The sunsets and sunrises are also reminders from Him. Just as one day closes and another begins, so too anything we are dealing with will not last, it will pass.
Also, the spectacular sunsets gave me just a small, very small, glimpse of the grandeur of Jesus second coming. That is the one thing I hold onto more than anything else. Enjoying the reminders each night, or even with a beautiful sunrise, warms my heart with His hope.
When life seems to be getting the best of you, take a walk in God’s creation and be reminded of His love and His soon coming.
