God’s Amazing Colors

There is none like you, O Lord; you are great, and your name is great in might.

Jeremiah 10:6 ESV

A devotion for March 30th through April 5th

Last Friday night, before Sabbath started, my husband and I pulled up chairs in front of our house and settled it to watch the sunset and welcome in the Sabbath. The colors were so pretty, as only God can create the most beautiful sunsets. Each one different but each one spectacular. The picture above doesn’t do it justice. The birds were singing their night songs. We saw eagles fly through the trees and also had one of our neighboring owls lite in one tree for a moment. Off to the northwest we could see the edge of storm clouds far off. But enjoying the colors as the sun set was just a perfect way to bring in the Sabbath.

For me, this was one of the most wonderful times I have had watching God’s Sabbath begin. I am so grateful to Him for creating the Sabbath at creation. The Lord knew we would need this one day a week to be refreshed in Him. He wanted us to spend this one day communing with Him. He created such a beautiful way to invite us to join Him for rest, peace, and to be refreshed. And He provides this reminder each night to prepare us and remind us to come join Him when Sabbath starts

As the sun sets, we can look up and watch as the stars gradually begin to sparkle in the gradually darkening night sky, another reminder of how great our Lord truly is. He is so great, so big, so far beyond anything we could even dream. He is beyond our comprehension, and His love even more grand than the most colorful sunset He creates.

When Sabbath begins later this week, I pray you are graced with a colorful and beautiful reminder of God’s love. Be grateful for the time He gives to rest and refresh. Spend time with our Heavenly Father and never forget, He is greater than anything we can
