Put on the full armor of God [for His precepts are like the splendid armor of a heavily-armed soldier], so that you may be able to [successfully] stand up against all the schemes and the strategies and the deceits of the devil.
Today we had an awesome event at church for the ladies. We called it the “Ugly Sweater/Armor of God”. We told the ladies to wear ugly sweaters (or anything they wanted to, just come!), bring a $10 wrapped gift, and a treat to share. We had a special speaker who spent about an hour talking about the Armor of God. It was such a great event, and the words shared and discussed were some I have been thinking about. Here are a few of my takeaways.
One thing I really enjoyed hearing was the speaker saying everyone should read an amplified Bible. I have one! I love this Bible because of the extra parts that help explain. The presenter said it was a way of putting back in some of what was lost. I’m glad I have one of these Bibles. I’m also glad for lessons the presenter brought to mind.
I often try to do so much, too much for the time I have. I end up so “busy” I don’t always have time for Him. I need to spend more time just with Him. The greatest relationship I have is the one I cultivate with Him. He wants us to spend time with Him. We don’t have to wait until Sabbath to worship Him, we should do it every day! The time we spend with Him is one way of putting on the whole armor of God.
I don’t know about you, but I often feel like I just can’t go on. I’m tired. There is so much to do, so many people need my help and attention. I let things weigh me down. I forget all I need is Him. When I keep Him first in my heart and mind things just go better. When I rush out into the world without Him, without putting on the full armor of God I fail. I also miss out on blessings!
Don’t let the things of this world creep in and weigh you down. Spend time with Him each day. When you do you put on the full (complete) armor of God. We may feel weak, but He is our strength.
Get properly dressed every morning. Put His armor on. He will help you walk through the door to eternity,
