For Sale

Then He who sat on the throne said, ‘Behold, I make all things new.’ And He said to me, ‘Write, for these words are true and faithful.’

Midweek thoughts

My husband and I are in the process of looking for a smaller house and selling our current one.  It seemed a good time to downsize since we really don’t need the size of the house and number of bedrooms we currently have.  We thought we might have to move a distance away because of my husband’s work but now it looks like we will stay in this area and since the process has started, here we go.

It's been quite a while since we bought this house and went through the process of finding a house.  We have toured a couple so far and something came to my mind.  As we walk through these homes we can see where people have “made updates”.  There appears to be some new paint, new cabinets, special designer doors, and so forth all to impress and make you think it’s newly remodeled and ready for occupancy.

Upon closer inspection, we started to notice things.  Little things that looked like they were haphazardly “covering up” areas that had issues.  Hiding things that perhaps were not finished.  Examining as best we could we discovered that things were not quite right and badly in need of attention.

It made me think of us as humans.  We will often try to dress a certain way, present ourselves in a certain way.  We smile, we laugh, we sometimes “hide” how we really feel, deep down inside.  We hope no one “sees” what we are trying to hide and that they buy what we are selling.

No matter what we do to try and cover up our insecurities, our faults, all the bad parts of ourselves, God knows.  He sees under the paint and new fixtures.  He knows what is truly in our hearts.  If we let Him, He will turn us into something beautiful, inside and out.

Turn your heart to Jesus.  Let Him make you into the wonderful creation you were meant to be.
