Failure

Do not fear, for I am with you; Do not be afraid, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, I will also help you, I will also uphold you with My righteous right hand.’

Isaiah 41:10 NASB

A devotion for February 9th through the 15th

This past week I failed. I’m not certain but pretty sure this was the first week I did not post one devotion. There was a time when I did two a week but had to cut back due to so much going on time just got away from me. Last week I didn’t even do the one. I failed. Now I sit here thinking about this failure and relying on God to see me through. Life gets busy sometimes and things get missed. It’s not the first time and won’t be the last. I do want it to be the last time I fail Him.

Sometimes life gets the best of us. We have so many things going on these days that fitting everything in can be a challenge. We fill our plates with work, maintaining the home, dealing with financial issues, taking care of children (if you still have little ones at home), dealing with family issues, and all the little (and big) things that happen each day. We plan and still are surprised by things that come up. We think we have plenty of time to fit everything in and then something happens, and we realize we are out of time once again.

This is not by accident, but by design. Not our design and not God’s. The evil one is trying to drive a wedge between us and our Creator. And he succeeds when we let our guard down. We allow too much to come at us, for us to get overwhelmed with too much, and we don’t give Him the time we should. The best way to get refocused and ease the overwhelming madness of too much is to intentionally set aside that time we should in order to communicate with God. Set aside the time to pray and read our Bibles. That is the best way to arm ourselves against the tactics of Satan.

I know I need to be more intentional. I need to pray more. I need to read my Bible more. I need to spend that time with Him because by doing so I am refreshed and strengthened in Him. We all need to be more intentional. Let’s all choose to be intentional about giving Him the time He deserves. Let’s welcome His strength in our lives. He is the only one who truly deserves our time and commitment.

Find strength in Him. Allow Him to renew your soul. Leave failure behind.
