Doors

Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.

Proverbs 3:5-6 NKJV

Midweek thoughts

Have you ever felt like a door may have been opened for you?  Have you ever had something happen and you have thought “if God wants it to happen, He will open a door and if He doesn’t then He will close the door”?  I have been thinking about these things the last couple days.  I have been talking with the Lord and asking Him if it His will to open the door and if it is not His will then close the door.

We all have lots of things that happen throughout our lives where sometimes God opens the door and sometimes, He closes it.  So how do we learn to trust and when that door is closed, be thankful to the Lord?  It’s hard sometimes.  There are always those times when we want something to happen.  We so want it to go the way we think it should.  Then suddenly, the door closes.  That’s when we often will feel sad, maybe even beaten down.

Have you ever taken the time to think that maybe there was a reason God closed that door?  God has His reasons.  We don’t always see how it is best that the door closed but God does.  He always knows what is best.  It’s hard for us to not feel sad but if we take the time to talk with God, He can help us to have peace in our heart and gratitude for His protection.

Sometimes God opens the door and good things happen.  Sometimes God closes the door and good can still come from it.  We need to praise God when He opens the doors and praise Him when He closes them.  God will give us peace in our hearts if we praise Him for knowing what is best for us.

So, the next time a door seems to be opening, stop and pray to our heavenly Father for His guidance and if it is best that the door be closed, praise God for that as well.
