Clouds

Even if you have been banished to the most distant land under the heavens, from there the Lord your God will gather you and bring you back.

Midweek thoughts

The above picture was taking today as I walked through the neighborhood.  It’s February 9th but the weather is unusually nice with blue skies filled with clouds.  Looking up and talking with God as I walked, I found my thoughts going back to another time, another place.  Long ago, when I was just a child, I would sit on the swing by myself looking up at the clouds as I went back and forth.  I would talk as I looked up, as if someone was up there listening.  My childlike imagination in full swing as I poured out my small, child’s heart.

Now I look back at that time and realize, that was the beginning.  Back then I didn’t know about God.  I didn’t know who He was, or what He was about.  I knew nothing, but still I looked up and spoke my heart.  It was the beginning of a growing relationship with the One who is always listening.  The One who heard my young tales of woe.  The One who began working on my heart.

I realize now that was when it all started.  As the years went on, I gradually learned more and more about God.  The more I learned, the more I wanted to know.  I wanted to understand who this was and what it all meant for me, personally.  God worked by placing people in my path that would help in my growth, my learning.  Even today, I still learn.  I do Sabbath School lessons, I participate in Bible studies, I attend church, I discuss with anyone willing to talk about Jesus and the price He paid.

God places things in our paths to guide us to Him.  We just need to listen.  When we have a thought, an interest, hear a word, or someone crosses our path blessing us in some way, remember to follow that.  It’s God leading the way.  Listen to His small still voice.  It leads to the most wonderful blessings for eternity!
