to open their eyes, so that they may turn from darkness to light and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and a place among those who are sanctified by faith in Me.’

Midweek Thoughts

The house that my family lived in up until I was 6 years old had a long back yard.  One side of it was lined with poplar trees.  I would run down the fence line and run my hand through the branches all the way down and back up.  One day while doing this I disturbed a black wasp nest and got stung on the side of my nose.  I quickly found that I was very allergic to bee and wasp stings.  I was taken to Immanual Hospital and had to get a shot in my back side.  Still my face was swollen so badly my eyes were completely shut and my breathing was difficult. I was like this for a few days.  I remember my mom talking to me, asking all the time how I felt and If I needed anything.

Her caring words and her love made me see, and still do, how lucky I was with my family.

Today it seems like a broken family with one parent in a child’s life is more the norm than a 2-parent family.  Stress comes to these single moms and dads a lot faster because of work finances and the responsibility of parenting alone. Quickly they react to a problem in a manner that they shouldn’t.  Words are said, actions taken that they regret.  The child finds himself on an island by themselves walking blindly looking for anything that will make them feel loved or occupy their lives.

One of the things I liked to do in the past is read autobiographies of famous musicians.  A lot of them grew up much like that. Their musical instrument was the only thing that made them happy.  Later though playing wasn’t enough and they would find themselves on a very dark road with drugs and alcohol.   That is no place for anyone to visit.

Our bodies are the temple of God, and the devil has many vices out there to blind our eyes from God’s love.  It took Paul to be blinded by God’s light to truly see how he’d been blind all his life from God’s love.  But from then on, he followed where God led him and to this day his words inspire many people to the light of God and His Son. Pray and take time to listen to his leading and you will truly see things clearly.
