Build a Boat Where it Never Rains

Thus Noah did; according to all that God commanded him, so he did.

Genesis 6:22 NKJV

I heard a song on the radio about Noah.  I began thinking about Noah and the faith that he displayed.  We should all want and have this kind of faith.  Let’s look at Noah for just a bit.

“But Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord.” (Genesis 6:8 NKJV) It states in the Bible that God saw how violent and depraved the earth had become and He was saddened.  God decided to do something about it, but Noah found grace in God’s eyes.  God chose to spare Noah and his family.  So, God told Noah to build a boat.  God was very specific about how to do this as it says from Genesis 6:14-16.   And “thus Noah did; according to all that God commanded him, so he did”. (Genesis 6:22 NKJV)

Can you imagine the type of faith this took?  Noah was in the desert, a place where it hadn’t rained for so long.  It was dryer than we could imagine.  And yet, God asked Noah to build a boat and he did.  It does not sound like he ever questioned God.  The Bible just says, “thus Noah did”.  The Lord asked Noah to build a boat and he got right to work.

I don’t know about you, but I would probably find myself asking, “build a boat, I’m in the desert?”.  But it does not say Noah asked this of God.  He just went forward in faith, great faith!  This is the kind of faith we all should have.  When God speaks to us, and He does if we listen close enough, we need to go forward in faith knowing that God knows best, and He knows things we don’t know.

When life becomes hard and we don’t know which way to go, listen for God’s voice and build the boat in the desert.  Watch how it rains!
